About Me

Professionally

My name is Shelley Wenger, and I am a certified veterinary technician. I have worked in veterinary medicine since I graduated from high school in 2000. I passed my test and became certified in 2023. I haven’t looked back.

Though I have worked mainly with cats and dogs, I have also worked with horses at a breeding farm. I worked with a board-certified neurosurgeon where we did MRIs on cats and dogs, and then did brain and spinal surgery. I have been working at the same small town small animal hospital for the last twelve years!

My favorite parts of the job are spending time with the animals and teaching owners the best way to care for their pets. Because of this, I have decided to start my own blog to share my knowledge with the world.

I hope that no matter where you are in your journey, I will be able to help you.

Personally – The Farming Life

I am a farm girl at heart. I got married in 2007 and have worked the past few years to turn our small acreage into a small farm.

We have goats, chickens, ducks, and quail at the moment. We often raise a pig or two at a time for our own needs. To be more self-sufficient, we also raise hay and corn to feed our animals.

We often plant sweet corn, potatoes, and have a few fruit trees to round out our farming journey.

Personally – My Family

I married in 2007. We started our family in 2011 and finished our family in 2012.

My boys are ALL BOYS! They love being outdoors and all things mechanical. They can tear apart tractors, engines, and almost anything. Even better, they can put them back together. In fact, our picture above is one of the only ones I have where they are clean! They are usually very dirty.

This is what they usually look like. They are currently getting ready to race their lawn mowers.

So, that is all there is to know about me. Hope you enjoy my posts.
